Since getting the stuck cylinder off I got a surge of motivation! :D Tomorrow I will get it down to bare frame and maybe start bead blasting some of the smaller pieces. I have plenty of work I can do before money will slow me down, lots of stuff to clean up and paint before I need gaskets, seals, tires, brakes, or even have to dig into the engine.

I have since removed the wiring harness, cables, coils, pegs, instruments, basically just left the wheels on it so it's easier to move around . Until tomorrow!

Old meets "new". Most likely I will use the KH bottom end with the top end from the S3. Keeping the points!

Here is the grounding lug from the left side of the headlight.

Here's what I found on the right side! Hey Allen, did you know your "friend" was that creative? :?

More to follow... :P

I had one of those grounding lugs just like that. Must have been a common fix. :o

Now it's all over the garage! It will be pretty easy to tuck things away until I'm ready to clean/strip/paint them. Keeps my wife happy if there's a lot of floor space showing. For the most part I put any hardware back into it's threaded hole or stud to keep track of where everything came from. Now I'll put them into labeled bins (egg cartons work great).

Does anyone have a good KH400 rear wheel? (clean, straight, no rust, basically the opposite of my S3 wheel)

Some of the greasy nasty parts may get a trip to the car wash for a date with the high pressure nozzle! 8O

there is a beauty on ebay from a 72 S2, same wheel, black brake plate, from what i have read. its well worth buying from the pics.
I pressure wash everything before it comes in the door. you can stay cleaner that way.
BTW, i think i have a nice set of S3 forks, i will check.

Thanks Buster, but don't go to too much trouble, I got a complete KH400 front end from Joker earlier this year. Thanks again Jeff! :D

h1 wheel can be used on rear with some minor fitment fiddling, with all stock parts. use the s3 brake hub and so forth, almost adorect bolt in and you get the benefit of a wider tire. just my .02

The only advise I can give you is make friends with the local chromer. I've spent big $$$ replating. Make sure you ask for triple chrome or show chrome. That is nickle, copper and chrome it makes any part look better than new. I've replated every part on the bike, even every nut and bolt.

I'm slowly massing spare parts, plating, painting, polishing so I can pull a part out of my parts box and R&R the old part. It's to hard to get parts for these bikes.

I can give you a good chromer in NJ and an excellent chromer in PA if needed.
