Here's a couple of pics
from the Prostar S/E class in Montgomery..
#1 is Mr. Baxter's two dragsters.. The Green Monster is
the one Joe Bird had low ET on at 8.62 (BB, correct me
if I got the number wrong).. Bill rode the laydown and
spanked my butt first round. That's OK cause I just ordered
two cans of woop ass from Mayor Jacob and will be ready
for him next time.
#2 is Jack Seberger's dragster .. Mr. 3-Cylinder was tuned
up and really flying.. Fantastic job on the refurb and
congrats on the 8 sec passes !!
Got a few more and will post them later..
I enjoyed racing with you guys and and looking forward
to next season !
Cheers !
Garrett

| I'm alive and kicking
but in need of help to post the pics which JayDAV has
volunteered to help me with. I have been trying to get
online and stay online for more than a couple of minutes
for days. I have a bad phone line. I asked Jay to post
a messege to all of you as to whats been going on. I don't
know if this will post or not .There are about 100 pictures
and I have some info for each one. Had one of the best
times ever meeting all the people and being around all
of those triples. It was a real privilige to be on the
4Bs race team(Broken Bill Baxters' Borrowers) that by
the end of the weekend included almost everyone in Alabama.
If any of you are planning to race next year please bring
extra parts for Bill- I did interview almost every there
to some extent to get some info to go with the pictures
and I am so glad that it was mentioned by Tim Bix as I
believe that he his story will add to the triple legend.
Tim has been racing 4 strokes for some time and was given
the oportunity to ride Johns triple. Now as the story
was related to me it seems that Tim didn't have alot of
respect for a mere 750 2 stroke. People at the starting
line said it looked like the bike just picked him up and
slammed him on the ground. I'll let Tim fill you all in
on how many broken bones he got and of course the rest
of the story while I get with Jay and post some pics.

Here is 3cylinder on the right and Killswitch in his trailer
ready to warm her up. 3cylinder and I found that we have
a couple of friends in common which always helps me feel
at ease and killswitch just invited me in like I was family.
Thanks again!
If there are any Lake Wobiegone, Prairy Home Companion
fans out there Killswitch is what I had always invisioned
the Lutheran Norwegian batchelor farmer to be.
Here we have the runner up Tim Bix who has got a new respect
for the old triple. Watch this guy as he can cut a light!
Here is your winner Dan B and his Yellow Jacket. Dan and
his wife race every week back in Pa. She has a mean mustang.
I haven't forgotten that nice time we shared. Thanks and
GB!
From right to left is Johnatkens who wound up not being
able to race when his slider came apart but gladly made
it possible for others to race by loaning out everything
he had. My hat is still off to this unselfish triple loving
drag racer.
In the hat and PHR shirt is Dave P. crew chief for the
blue bike owned by Mike B. I was at Atlanta many years
ago and was stopped dead in my tracks by a blue RD that
had the cylinders turned around for just one of the many
innovations on the bike. That bike belonged to Dave P.
and had an IDBA record of 121mph. That blue triple is
as high tech as any bike anywhere. Mike has been into
triple racing for 25 years and has to be the most organized
racer I have ever met. Dave told me that he is Oscar to
Mikes Felix but through mutual respect and the love of
innovations they are a very formidable team. They ran
a best 1/8 mile ever in the 5.40s but lost a transmission
in eliminations. Paired with Mike is 3cyl and the Mayor
who are in another picture that I'll comment on.
From right to left is 3cyl. On the blue triple is Perry
K. with his more than capable crew chief/wife at his side.
I really enjoyed these two partners in racing. I bought
a pair of Simpson Drag shoes from Perry so that I can
out run him. That will be a tall order against this racers
racer.
He is paired with Mark S. who I swore that I had met before
and after returning home I realized that we had both been
at the Motorplex in 1991 where he set a record in S/E
that weekend. He was in Alabama with Matt Park who set
more records than he can remember. Matt said he has a
stroker motor he's got about done. There may be another
record to break ....
Standing next to Mark is Bill B. who had two questions
for everyone.... Can I borrow some parts? was one and
do you think the green stripe makes me look fat? was the
other which he has just asked for Marks' opinion on. Now
Mark, being a really honest guy and fellow Texan would
never want to hurt anyone’s feelings especially Bills',
well its easy to tell the struggle for an answer Marks
going through.
Here he is folks - the sheik of tripledom, Garrett / no
valves on his racer that also went down with transmission
problems. Bill is there looking like Mark told him the
truth and contemplating asking Garrett for a second opinion.
Would you believe a 600 Polaris that ran 9.80s if I remember
right with Bob B. on it who is so big he must have been
born on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! My only regret
for the whole weekend was not going over and inspecting
this bike and getting to know Bob and crew. I'm gonna
pray that he has a sense of humor.
He is paired with Kathy V. who’s husband Mike can be found
in the old Idba information from the days when he rode
triples. I watched this lady run and she is as smooth
as they come. She and Mike and the Mayor fed us all a
great meal for which I am still truly grateful.
And last but not least is 3cyl with the Mayor/ tuner
extraordinaire John J. John is very respected by all for
his ability to get the most out of a triple no matter
what the air is. He is a long time triple racer himself
that one day decided to team with Jack and go after the
IDBA Super Eliminator #1 plate which they won. Jack calls
John his secret weapon and upon winning that trophy presented
it to John. Another very formidable team indeed. John
made my weekend by letting me watch him work and also
helping me not to feel so old, bald and fat as I had been.
Sorry John, but Bill started it.
In the background is Bill asking Mark why he didn't tell
him one of those Texas whoppers to question #2. Well that’s
all folks. I'm going to send Tom a disk with the rest
of the pictures. All of you need to come to one of the
drag races next year and at least meet some of the finest
folks on earth and see some great bikes. Thanks to one
and all, Dennis Grassie |
